A native of Bryan, OH, Coach Matt Jones went on to play junior college and NAIA basketball. His coaching career began as a graduate assistant coach at Spring Hill College (NCAA Division II) in Mobile, AL. After completing his master’s degree and a stop coaching junior college basketball at Miami Dade College, he became the Program Director and National Team Head Coach at Combine Academy in the Charlotte, NC area. In his two seasons with the Goats, he developed and placed 14 players at the NCAA Division I level and numerous others at the NCAA DII, NAIA, and NJCAA levels. Following his time at the prep school level, Coach Jones founded his own basketball player development and consulting business, based in Lexington, KY. His strong reputation in player development led to a global camp business, through which he has led camps across the United States and in 10 countries. During this same period, Matt also began his FIBA professional coaching career. His first stop was in the prestigious Winners League in Israel with Maccabi Ashdod. He then earned his first head coaching opportunity with BC Vllaznia in Albania’s First Division. His most recent role was with Astros de Jalisco in Mexico’s respected LNBP League. Over the last three off-seasons, Matt has led pre-draft workouts for an NBA agency. In that time, he has worked with 4 players who have since played in the NBA.  Additionally, eight other players he worked with during the pre-draft process have gone on to earn Exhibit-10 or Two-Way contracts in the NBA. When not on the road or coaching abroad, Coach Jones resides in Lexington, KY, where he continues to operate his player development business working with players ranging from middle school to professional.
